Sabrina Lan

In July 2024 we met with Sabrina Lan in her Berlin apartment, located in the eastern part of the city. Together we spent a day in the summer heat, conversating about life, travel and the importance of having a place to feel at home.

Born in the Southern part of China, Sabrina moved to Spain at age 10 where she grew up with her family. For more than a decade she has been traveling the world, working for some of the world’s most influential fashion brands. A changing life rich on new experiences, that has also made her long for a place to find peace and feel connected to. In 2020, she moved with her Canadian husband to Berlin, to create a home in the historic neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg.

The area around Kastanienallee and Eberswalder Strasse is one of the few places that did not lie in ruins after the Second World War. The beautiful old apartment buildings rise on tree-lined cobblestone streets, standing as a historical anachronism next to monotonous parks and Cold War architecture.

In the bright apartment, the former living room has been converted to a place for rest. Not to drag everyday life into the bedroom, but to change the experience of the space. White walls and a discrete interior provide a room to breathe, while the bed stands out as a sculptural object for contemplation and presence.
